BOPO Prepaid Visa Card.

Bopo Prepaid Visa Card is considered to be Australia's first general purpose Prepaid Visa Card. Many Australians are wary of putting their credit card details online. The birth of Bopo, came from this very concept: Buy Online, Pay Offline (Bopo). Just like other prepaid cards, it offers the convenience of a credit card but because it's prepaid, you only spend what's put into it, thus avoiding the hassles of getting into debt.

The Bopo card can be used at any VISA merchant worldwide to withdraw money from an ATM, purchase goods online and pay for services at shops and stores. Families can link their cards to one another so that funds can be controlled and monitored. Parents whose children use the card can load their allowances or emergency money into card via SMS (where transfer is almost immediate) as well as transfer money from their bank account, the post office and the Bopo website.

The Bopo website offers subscribers to download a software called the Global Roaming Dialler. This enables them to use their Bopo card to the internet from a standard analogue telephone line.

Unlike the regular credit card, the Bopo card does not have any annual fees or charges but once you start using the card, the fees take effect.

Withdrawing money from an ATM costs $1.75 a transaction in Australia, or $2.50 to $3 offshore; transactions at retailers will cost 50 cents; transferring funds using SMS will cost from 20 cents for transactions as low as $5 to $3.50 for a funds transfer of $400 or more.

There is also a $1.50 fee charged to your card every time you top up the stored value. If you don't use the card in three months, there's a $1 a month "dormancy" fee, and if you try to withdraw money from an ATM without having sufficient funds, you could end up with a 30-cent "denial" fee. Little says this covers the cost of the ATM rejecting your request.

Checking your balance can also incur fees. If you do it over the internet, it's free. But checking by SMS costs 20 cents and using an ATM to check how much money is on your card will reduce its balance by $1. If the card is lost, the cardholder need not worry about the money that was loaded into it. All he has to do is call Customer Service, report the loss, and order a replacement card wherein the balance will be transferred. Other cards should be treat as cash itself because the amount will not be replaced if it is lost or stolen. When ordering a Bopo card online, one card choose from 9 standard design cards with the Visa logo or spend a bit more to design and customize their own. They can pick pictures from the image library in the Bopo website or upload an image from their PC and scale and position it on the card template.

"Bopo for Business" options are offered to companies to more effectively and conveniently manage expenses:

Bopo for incentives

Combined with the features of being both a membership and payments card, Bopo can be employed as a loyalty card that allows you to reward your customers for repeat purchases or membership renewal.

Bopo for expenses

Cards can be given to the workforce, field staff or management who regularly use company expenses for various projects etc. Instead of settling expenses post purchase, you can prepay Bopo cards with the required funds and then track and maintain business payments, both incoming and outgoing. Employees are prevented from spending above a predetermined limit and remove the risk of incurring large credit debts. It sort of takes the place of the "petty cash".

Bopo for branding

Bopo cards can be customized with your brand and design, so your customer will see the card as being connected with your business. This gives your customer a greater association with your business and brand, as well as the security of knowing that the card is backed by Visa. With Bopo you can use your corporate brand to leverage the card as a branding platform.

Bopo for payroll

Bopo work allows any employee to be paid without a bank account. Bopo gives your company the flexibility to do business in real-time without the costs per payroll involved in crediting to individual bank accounts using a third party financial institution.

Bopo for schools, universities and TAFE

Bopo campus is a "Cashless Campus Solution" aimed specifically at the education market. Parents and students will soon be able to use our eStore solution to pay for items online, such as books, stationary, uniforms, excursion payments or any other items that an educational institution may provide. A student ID can also be used to purchase items on campus with funds being accessed directly from the Bopo Campus account.
